Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

7411 plea bargain

In 1995 I was charged with use of marijuana in Michigan. I was given 12 months probation and a fine. I was told it was under the 7411 statute and if I completed the terms of probation, it would not be on a public record.

I recently had a background check for a new job. The use charge came up. I was shocked! I have had other background checks and nothing came up, but now it did. I didn't think it was available to anyone other than law enforcement.

Did someone violate my rights or did I misunderstand how 7411 works?

Thanks!

Did you?

If so, contact the sentencing court and get a copy of your discharge from probation which you should send to the Michigan State Police with a request to correct your record.
