Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
3rd Degree Retail Fraud
I did a very stupid thing and tried to steal 78 dollars of stuff from a meijer in Walker Michigan (near Grand Rapids). The security guard who caught me gave me a 200 dollar fine and the police officer gave me a ticket to appear at court in about 10 days. This is the first time I have been in trouble with the law and my record is completely clean. I am a full time college student and I was cooperative with the police. I was just wondering what I can expect in terms of punishment? Will I be placed on probation and what is a typical fine associated with 3rd degree retail fraud?
