3rd degree retail fraud 1st offense

Here are the details...

Walkin buy 80.00 worth of clothes and tried to steal a 12.00 dollar earing...i know it stupid. i was thinking about getting a lawyer i am 26 male with no prior record what will most likly happen and can i probably keep this off my record?

The likely result is that you will put on probation and required to pay restitution. There is a provision in Michigan law which will allow you "one free bite of the apple." In other words,the conviction will not be part of your permanent record, provided that you have no priors, don't pick up any new offenses and successfully complete probation.
