i am being charged for taking a $20 hard drive out of a building. this is my first felony! what will happen to me

Apparently you're the only one who thinks the hard drive is worth just $20.
When you ask for advice, make sure you recite the facts as they actually are - not as you want them to be.
If this is indeed your first offense, you're looking at probation but no jail. I'd give you a better idea if I knew your bond amount.
