Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

I'm an 18 year old freshman in college in Michigan. Last night, my friend's room was searched by the cops and they found about 0.3g of weed in a pill bottle with my name on it. I was gone at the time and have yet to talk to cops. I have nothing in my room or in my possession and I want to avoid charges at all costs. Unfortunately there was a small baggie in there to with crushed up codine to put on the weed in there, although I never used it because some random kid gave it to me. My friend told the police that I had dropped off the weed bc I didn't want to have to go to my room. I have yet to talk to any police so I want to know what I should say to keep my out of trouble. I have nothing in my possession so couldn't I just say that I don't know anything? Please help me!!! Thank you. Oh, and my parents don't know yet.

At first glance and witht the information you have provided, this is not a case you should plead guilty to for the following reasons: The chances that the officers ran the baggie for fingerprints are low. The only witness who might try to blame you for the possession is someone who looks more guilty than anyone. You have not made any incriminating statements to police. DO NOT TALK TO THE POLICE, NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT THE CASE. Sit tight, and get yourself an attorney who will not bow down to prosecutors.
