Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
I am 32 years old but when I was 20 I was convicted of criminal sexual conduct 4th degree(2 counts same girl) in the state of Michigan. I am 4 years 7 months older than her but I am curious if I have a good chance of getting off the registry maybe under the romeo and juliette legislation. We are friends on Facebook and I'm sure she would be willing to write a letter and possibly come to court if needed. Thank you

You would not be eligible under the Romeo and Juliet provisions because you are more than four years older than her. There is a four year age difference that is required for the Romeo and Juliet provisions and it is strictly adhered to. However, you may be able to petition under one of the other methods that allow for people to get off the registry. If it has been more than 10 years and you have not gotten into anymore trouble and you can demonstrate that you are no longer a threat to the community, you may be able to petition for removal.
