Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

My 17 yr old daughter was pulled over (the cop said he smelled weed when she drove by with her windows up) the kid she was driving home had weed on him They were NOT smoking weed and weren't under the influence when he arrested them Should I get her a lawyer? She's an honor roll student has never been in any kind of trouble. He never read them their rights... Didn't call or allow her to call detained them at the county jail for 8 hours and impounded our truck with her personal belongings inside purse money etc
