Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

Age of Consent

I am 15 and am dating someone who is 17. Because he is not an adult (18) yet, is it still illegal for us to engage in sexual acts? I was told that as long as both people are under 18, it's OK. Is this true?

Re: Age of Consent

Sex with a minor is per se illegal even with consent. The statute on criminal sexual conduct (csc) specifically addresses the issue of the close age of individuals. However, I believe it would still violate the statute. The statute should be examined.

Re: Age of Consent

Under Michigan law if you and your boyfriend were to engage in sexual intercourse he would be guilty of CSC 3rd, a 15 year felony. After your 16th birthday it would not be a crime in Michigan as long as you consent. I would advise that you reconsider your sexual desires. You are still young and there will be plenty of opportunities for you to engage in later years. You do not need to grow up too quickly. Enjoy your teen years and save the sex until your 20's.
