Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
I got an Arraignment notice in the mail. Under the charges it reads gun miscellaneous. What am i being charged with?
1 Answer from Attorneys
I do not know but that is exactly what an Arraignment is for. An Arraignment is where you are officially told what you are being charged with. You are advised of your rights and allowed to plead guilty or not guilty. If you do not have an attorney and are being charged with a felony, you may not be able to plead guilty at Arraignment.
You are apparently being charged with some type of gun crime but there are so many that I couldn't tell you without more information. DO NOT plead guilty and DO NOT try to explain your side. Anything you say can be used against you. ONLY discuss your case with your lawyer. If you cannot afford a lawyer, you can ask the court for one at arraignment. It is very important that you do not try to do this without an attorney as this will affect so many things in your life. I hope this helps a bit. Good Luck!
