Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
I was arrested for 3rd degree retail fraud in april, 1st offense. Should I need a lawyer? And why would I need one?

Well, you're not going to jail; so that just leaves you to consider if you care whether this crime is the beginning of a criminal record which may adversely affect any educational and employment opportunities in the future.
If you don't want a record, you may want an attorney and plead not guilty.
If you do want a record, plead guilty at your arraignment.
