Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
Attending a party with minors drinking
I'm going to be attending a party where I'm fairly certain there will be minors drinking, but I'm not 100% sure. I am 21 and I do not live at the residence, and will not be providing any alcohol in any way, shape, or form. Would I be able to get in any legal trouble from simply being at a party where minors are drinking? There's not really any way I'd be able to stop the drinking at all.

In theory, no! However, any police officer called to the scene has to make judgment calls. Mistakes are sometimes made - especially if the place is crowded and noisy. You may risk being arrested. If you are, know that, at the scene, the police must be obeyed.

Just being at the party is not a crime. However you do subject yourself to being wrongfully charged with furnishing alcohol to minors and/or other crimes. I'd stay away from all criminal activity just to play it safe.
