Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
My attorney adjourned the last pre trial court date. The judge rescheduled for a week later and said that this was the last adjournment for a pre trial. The judge said that after this next pre trial date the case was proceeding to trial and the plea deal will be off the table. Can a defense attorney ask for another pre trial date? Can the defense still negotiate a plea deal with prosecutors while waiting for the trial to start?
