Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
I believe I was let down by my attornies
I am 43 years old and never had any trouble with the law. After a 25 year releationship, my wife left me. I went to were she was living to talk to her and found her with another man I ended up getting assult and Bat. on the man and D/V also Home invasion 1 - I did get in a fight with the guy but never went in with out permission and also never touched my wife. My Att's. talked me out of going to trial and now I am 1/2 way done with a 1 year sentence. Is there any way I can change what happened and get out of jail. I have people who would testify that I did not go there with intent to break in and commit a crime. I was under so much duress prior to the trial that I just did as they said. Now my mind has cleared and is there anything I can do. If I was such a violent man and guilty of all of this why would the prosecutor give me work release - it makes no since. They just were avoiding a trial - and she wanted a felony conviction.

Unfortunately your only option is to appeal the sentence and conviction which will be an uphill battle now that so much time has passed from your sentencing date. Furtehr, by the time your appeal was filed and addressed by the courts, your jail sentence will be completed.
