Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

my boyfriend is being charged with 1st degree home invasion. I told he could come over. He is a habitual felon for drugcharges. what is he facing if he doesn't have an attorney? Also he's being charged with assault and battery. This happened at a friends house.
