Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
My boyfriend went to jail Monday for a traffic violation (he has been on parole for about 13 months). His parole officer said he has to do 30 days. His bond is 10% of $7,500. The bondsman can get it down to $240. My boyfriend had the bondsman call me yesterday and said to pay his bond because he can have it lifted (I don't know what that means or how it works). He has to go back to court May 1st. How does getting it "lifted" works? If I pay now is there a chance he could get out? Should I wait till after he goes back to court?

I'd wait. The bondsman wants $240 to insure against $750 ($10% 0f 7500). Too greedy - especially if your boyfriend stays inside and only gets time served.
