Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

I was caught shop lifting yesterday and the stuff came to $313 but the cop put on my arrest sheet retail fraud 3rd. Does that mean I'm only being charged for 3rd degree? This was my first offense. It also says misdemeanor. Any idea what I'm looking at as far as "punishment"? I live in Michigan. They wouldn't tell me anything!

Thank you

Possible punishment is 93 days in jail, fines, costs, work detail, probation, classes, etc. You would do well by speaking with an experienced defense attorney in the city where the case is being heard. www.kliszlaw.com Tim Klisz

If the merchandise were valued over $200, it should have been second degree. You need to consult with an experienced and aggressive criminal defense attorney to get you the best possible outcome and keep this off your record. Visit us at www.hajjilaw.com or contact us at 888.432.6425
