You don't say what the crime might be, so we can't give a specific answer. The general statute of limitations is 6 years --- so charges must be issued within 6 yrs after the crime date. But some crimes (like several of the criminal sexual assault crimes) allow for a longer time until the victim turns a certain age or if the suspect is not identified until DNA results are known. Also, crimes of CSC 1st Degree and Murder have no statute of limitations.

It depens on the specific crime. However, if you are in fear of being charged you need to speak with an experienced attorney to represent you in case you are charged. Visit www.jnfiani.com for more information or call me at 810-227-7200
