Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

If you commit a crime a charges were not Pressed. How long does the state have to do so if they choose? The state is Michigan.

You don't say what the crime might be, so we can't give a specific answer. The general statute of limitations is 6 years --- so charges must be issued within 6 yrs after the crime date. But some crimes (like several of the criminal sexual assault crimes) allow for a longer time until the victim turns a certain age or if the suspect is not identified until DNA results are known. Also, crimes of CSC 1st Degree and Murder have no statute of limitations.
