There are many consequences both direct and indirect. The direct consequences are you can go to jail or even prison, be placed on probation, and have your driver's license suspension. You may qualify for a diversion sentence which can would not only keep the conviction off your record but prevent the mandatory driver's license suspension as well. You may have legal arguments or defenses that can be used to suppress the evidence which can lead to a dismissal or a better than normal plea offer.

Also, if you end up with a drug conviction on your record, even a misdemeanor, many people find out later that they are ineligible for certain government funding/programs, scholarships, jobs, or even housing. That is why it is of the utmost importance to keep if off your record if at all possible.

If you or someone you know is facing this charge please contact us to discuss representation and how we can help If it is not in an area we service we may be able to provide a referral.
