I was convicted of attempted uttering and publishing over 5 years ago. Can i apply for a job now? Is it still on my record?

If that's the only crime on your record you can get it expunged by making a motion before the court that convicted you.

Yes, unless it was expunged or set aside. Convictions don't just fall off or disappear after a certain period of time despite popular myth. You may be eligible for an expungement if it has been at least five years since the completion of your sentence (whatever it was-- probation, jail...) and provided you don't have enough other convictions that would disqualify you.
