Assuming you want to do this on the cheap, go to the criminal clerk and get a copy of the last paper filed in your case. Take the paper to the judge's clerk and ask the clerk to have the judge explain it to you.
Generally you cannot sue a person that was the cause of a criminal matter being brought against you. However, if you were not convicted and the case was dismissed, you might have a case for Malicious Prosecution or Abuse of Process. However, to have those types of cases, you must show that there was absolutely no probable cause for you to be charged and that the person did it out of some sort of specific hatred or malice towards you. That's a very difficult thing to do. Therefore, you may be better served just moving on with your life. http://www.wolverinelaw.com
