Retail fraud in the third degree (value of merchandise less than $200) is a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than 93 days or a fine of not more than $500.00 or 3 times the value of the difference in price, property stolen, or money or property obtained or attempted to be obtained, whichever is greater, or both imprisonment and a fine.
If your daughter was a minor at the time you may also be charged with other offenses (contributing to the delinquency of a minor etc.). What can you expect? I cannot answer that question without knowing all the facts, the court, and which judge you have. Depending on the facts you may have a winnable case. Feel free to contact me for a free case evaluation.
There are special deals that can be made for both of you, assuming clean criminal records. I handle dozens of these a year and know how to make things work.
