Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

domestic abuse and 2nd offense DUI

My boyfriend was arrested tonight while driving home from his new job. He was pulled over (for what I am not sure, he obeys all driving laws). But he does have warrants for 2 domestic violence charges from last october and a warrant for 2nd offense DUI from 8 years ago. Bot these 2 different warrants are from 2 different counties. He has been a well behaved citizen other than the accident that happened in october. What is going to happen to him? I am so fearful that he will do an extended stay in jail and lose his job... is there some way if he is punished that he can still work and do a work release or be placed on an ankle monitor. He is my family's only means of income at this time. Will the courts consider this? What can I do... talk to the prosecuting attorney... I know he needs a lawyer but we just cannot afford right at this time. He also mentioned (my boyfriend) about the domestic abuse charges being felonies? Its his first offense (and last)with the domestic abuse.

You need to retain a criminal lawyer to handle the case and ensure he gets the best deal possible, due to the various issues in your case. What happens all depends on the jurisdiction where he was arrested and the police officers and prosecutors involved.

Re: domestic abuse and 2nd offense DUI

You need to find a way to get him an experienced, aggressive attorney. Somebody loves and cares enough about your boyfriend to help him financially. It might be family and it might be friends. Sometimes it's a combination of family, friends and loans. He cannot possibly protect and fight for himself without being experienced in dealing with the court system.

Let's face it. This is going to be expensive. If he hires a top-notch attorney, that will cost significant money. If he just handles these cases on his own or if he settles for a low level attorney, he may end up paying out more money in fines, costs, probation fees, jail or prison, etc. I recommend that you contact everyone you know that will contribute to his defense.
