Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

DWLS First Offense

I have been arrested for DWLS and need to be arraigned within 14 days. I have prior convictions for felony DUI which I have completed sentencing (I'm off probation). I would assume I should hire a lawyer, but I was wondering if pleading guilty and asking the court for leniency (due to circumstances) would be a viable option, in other words, I'm hoping to just get a fine and move on with trying to obtain my license.

Unfortunately, thats not how it works today. Pleading straight up guilty to anything is a bad idea, and you are right, you should have an attorney who knows the Court, prosecutor, etc. In SE Michigan, call me for a free phone consultation on your issues. You're serving a 5 year license revocation which began with your felony conviction. This will become a 10 year revocation if you're convicted of ANY moving violation courtesy of the SoS..

You can go before a judge and probably just get fined (first time DWLS's seldom do time).

The real problem is the SoS. No amount of trying will change the 2x revocation if you're convicted.
