First, the word is "expungment". And the correct term in Michigan is "setting aside a conviction."
Second, it has to be at least 5 years since your conviction date.
Third, this has to be your first and only criminal conviction of any kind anywhere. No other misdemeanor or felony convictions anywhere. Even DWLS will make you ineligble.
Fourth, there's a technical process to follow. So hire a lawyer to make sure it's done right, and the best argument for it is made.
Fifth, although they don't have veto power, the prosecutor has to be in the loop, and can object. Victims can object, too.
Sixth, judges have discretion to grant the request or deny it. There's no telling ...
