Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

False reporting (fire) for self defense against break in

We recently had the misfortune to have two men attemt to break in to our apt. We were moving the next day so the phone was already off. my wife shouted out the window for help and the police the neighbors just stood there, As the men had the door lock slipped and the door was coming open 8 to 12 inches as they shouldered it together i remembered reading to shout fire to get attention and advised my wife to do so while i tried to hold the door. both they and the police showed in minutes and the men ran. We told the police who we suspected but my wife was arrested for false reporting. Any help or memories of articles concerning this would be appreciated

Sounds like you need to hire an attorney. The false reporting can be a felony, if the crime you were reoprting was same. Please feel free to contact my office to discuss the matter further. Eric I. Kutinsky (248) 737-7000
