Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
My father was wrongfully accused as a sex offender. He works as a contracted overseas worker by the Federal government. He was in Zambia, Africa for a year and never put any type of security, such as a login etc., in his laptop computer, and he let the locals use the computer as well. He is just the type of guy that loves to travel and trust the locals to some extent. He came back to the United States and had his computer checked for viruses because he was overseas. The computer repair shop found child porn on his computer, which he did not have any idea where it came from. In Michigan if they child pornography in your computer they can put you to jail. He had the chance to fight it, and he never had any type of criminal record, plus being a deputy for twenty three years, but we didn't have $20,000 dollars to pay for an attorney. So he had to plead guilty, even though he is innocent. The city of Grandville have been putting restrictions and promised that he's not going to jail by pleading guilty. Now they changed their mind and they're putting him to jail, and it's been a unbearable pain to his family. Now, if there is any lawyer out there that does not partake to any type of greedy law when it comes to this matter and can refer us to an organization that can help clear his name that would be great. Or else I have lost my faith in this country's judicial system, and all of what it stands for.
