Felonious Assault- Very Worried, Please Help.

Hello everyone,

Two months ago I was arrested for felonious assault. Two independent witnesses allege that I tried to hit the victim with an umbrella. The man was not hurt ( minor cuts and scratches). Another man who was with me was arrested for public intoxication, but was the instigator in the fight. He blew a .28, I blew a 0.00000.

I was released the following day from the precincts holding cell. I gave a statement to the detective, and he said I was very honest, and appreciated it. Shook my hand and was friendly. He said the worst case scenario for me would be probation. He said ''I don't think you'll serve any time''.

I've never been arrested before. No criminal record. I'm a college student at one of the best universities in the U.S. It's been two months- not one word. I'm worried.

I don't know what to do, can someone please help?

You don't want a felonious assault on your record. Hire an experienced criminal defense attorney. Your attorney should either be able to work it out with the Judge that the matter won't show up on your record as a conviction or take the case to trial.
