Felony Conviction in the state of Michigan. Currently live in Ohio. Do I need a Michigan lawyer to file an expungement?

If the conviction is in the State of Michigan a person licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan is required unless you are filing pro se (on behalf of yourself).

Yes, you need a Michigan lawyer to file the expungement motion in the trial court where you were convicted and file the necessary paperwork and notice on all required parties. It's also a good idea to consult with a Michigan criminal lawyer to discuss your eligibility to have the conviction set aside.
