Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
where do I find the definitions of charges in Michigan such as flight fugitive?

If you know the statute number (the "MCL" or Michigan Compiled Laws number) for that crime, go to www.michiganlegislature.org and type that number in the "MCL Code box and his Enter. That'll get you to the statutory language. Another site with some more general legal terms defined is at http://www.eatoncounty.org/Departments/ProsecutingAttorney/Define.htm. I'm guessing, though, that the terms "flight fugitive" refer to the Fugitive From Justice crime (MCL 780.12) which is a misdemeanor offense and is used when there's a confirmed arrest warrant from another state for a person who is located in Michigan. This "crime" technically allows our criminal courts to hold the person until the other state processes its extradition paperwork. Sometimes, the subject remains in jail, but many times the person is released on a bond on our charge while the other state processes its extradition papers. The subject can waive extradition to speed things up, or can contest the extradition, which obviously will make the process longer.
