My friend caught a case

he was caught with some marijuana and i made a witness statement against him but i wish to retract the statement. i heard i was going to get a subpeona to appear in court.. if i appear but retract my statement, what will the consequences be?

You could be charged with providing false information to a police officer, and if they are subpoenaing you to testify in court, and your testimony is different than your witness statement, the attorneys will attempt to impeach you, and/or pursue charges for obstruction of justice, if they think you are being untruthful, or changing your story to protect a friend.

You should simply tell the truth. Doing otherwise will make it worse for you.
