Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
My friends lawyer told him if he plead to and admitted guilt to a lesser charge he would be out in a month.. The Judge says he could get anywhere from 5 years to 30 years nothing about probation or being released does a lawyer have the right to promise that?

No lawyer can promise how a judge will sentence a defendant. Further, if the judge told your friend that he is facting 5 years to 30 years, that would likely be the judge's sentence. Your friend should figure out if he wants to continue with this same attorney.
