Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

Grand Larceny in Michigan?

Hi i'm 20 years old and i live in Michigan and i was wondering what would be the options of sentencing possible for my case if it was brought up by state prosecutioners. I was caught stealing items in a general area and the items exceed the of ~$600, I'd say the appropriate range would be like $600-800. I was caught and i ended up giving back all the stolen items back in the condition they were in and also every exact item that was taken. My first question is what kind of crime is this, and also what are the possible options for sentencing i can receive. I have nothing on my record other than 1 speeding ticket and maybe like 1 or 2 parking tickets. Can you possibly list me the extremes of what could happen, for example, the least thing that could happen is everything would be expunged and the most extreme thing that could happen would be jail time and for how long. I was just wondering since this is my first offense, and most first offenses are either expunged, probation, or punished.

Where is your case being brought? That would be the most important missing info before I could advise you. Visit www.kliszlaw.com to discuss. Tim Klisz

I would keep your pre-conceived notions about first offenses to yourself when attempting to resolve this. Just look scared and penitent when you meet with to the prosecutor, i.e. listen rather than talk. If you're not offered HYTA, you can ask for an attorney.

Based upon only the facts in your post, you are eligible for treatment under the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act (HYTA) which should keep your record clean barring any probation violation.
