Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
Home Youthful Truancy Act
Son charged with 2 counts Felony Larceny. Case was bound over to Circuit court from District Court and offer was given to submit for HYTA consideration to Judge. Is this a good thing? Pros and Cons of HYTA vs trying to reduce Felonys to Misdemeanors?

Re: Home Youthful Truancy Act
Holmes Youthful Training Act (HYTA)allows an offender under the age of 21 to have his or her case dismissed upon complete of a term of probation. If there is a violation, a guilty plea is entered.
A great opportunity to keep a young person's record clear. If the individual is innocent and goes to trial and wins, no probation. If he/she loses, the court may still impose HYTA but it is unlikely
