Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
my house was in a fire in nov i sent in the proof of loss in december and i have to go to an examination under oath. I recieved a bad grade in one of my classes and my scholarship is in jeopardy. I think that i should call the insurance company and tell them that i rescind my claim. i am current with my mortgage and i owe 50000 on my mortgage which if i finish school i am assured that i will be able to pay back in less than two years. can i do this? thank you

Contact an attorney before talking to the insurance company to evaluate your case. You can have an attorney present with you at the examination under oath. Don't let the insurance company initimidate you, they're good at it. Don't back down until you speak to an attorney. Attorneys of Michigan, PLLC, Daniel Hajji, 248.865.4700 or toll free 888.484.9349
This question doesn't fit in the "criminal law" arena ... unless the "proof of loss" you sent in last month was fraudulent (which you don't suggest happened). So, unless you need to re-post this in a section of law that applies to the issue you are concerned with.
Even that is sketchy, because your "Can I do this?" question could concern whether you should participate in the examination under oath (insurance law, general civil law), whether you 'can' withdraw your insurance claim (insurance law, general civil law, and maybe even contract law), etc.
