Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

Incarceration practices of ill inmates

What is the stated reason for not allowing a sick, hospitalized prisoner a visit from a family member or a member of the clergy?

What is the reason for not allowing the inmate's physical condition to be released to the inmate's wife?

Is there any way for the wife to gain access to her hospitalized husband to visit him?

Re: Incarceration practices of ill inmates

If this person is in a state prison, then Michigan Department of Corrections regulations apply. They control access issues re: prisoners. You don't say what the person is in prison for, which facility, for how long, whether his status is "maximum security" or something less, etc.

The MDOC web site does not have its visitation regulations posted. You can got to http://www.state.mi.us/mdoc/asp/otis1.html to find which facility the person is in (enter first and last name and/or inmate number), then go to http://www.state.mi.us/mdoc/text/facilitytext.html to find a link to the correctional facility where the person is, which has a phone number for you to call.

I cannot answer your specific questions because I do not know what the "stated reason" is for not allowing in visitors for this person.
