Juvenille Larceny
Hello..I am 17 years old which means i am techinally an adult in the state of michigan. I got regretfully got arrested for shoplifting or ''larceny''. I took a total of 98 dollars and was arrested and taken to jail where i was allowed to pay my own bond and go home. When i go to court I plan on pleading guilty..do you think that I need a lawyer...or need to tell my parents. Also how much do you think that i will have to pay. Thank you soo much for you help Sincerely

If this is your first offense, the prosecutor should offer a plea of guilty to be taken under advisement. After successfully completing whatever conditions the court requires in the given time (usually it is 6 months to 1 year), the case will be dismissed and you will not have a record of a conviction. But I think you're in Oakland County by your zip code and things are tough there. If you cannot afford an attorney, ask for a court-appointed one if the prosecutor does not offer a plea under advisement. A theft conviction will ruin your chances for many future jobs, etc. Good luck!
