Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
I knew the juror
What could happen if I said that I knew one of the jurors in my trial? I was found guilty and I shouldn't have been. After the trial I asked about one of the jurors because I recognized the last name but wasn't sure if I knew her or not. Come to find out. I do. So now what?

Re: I knew the juror
First of all, the important thing is whether the JUROR knew or recognized or remembered YOU ... not the other way around. If you recognize a juror, but the juror says that he doesn't know you from Adam, then there is no problem.
Here's the problem that I see with your situation/complaint: your issue could be easily turned around and made to appear like you sat back and waited for the verdict to raise the issue ... if this was such a concern that you didn't feel like you would get a fair trial, why didn't you bring this up when the jury was being selected (of tell your attorney so he/she could ask the juror questions to jog his/her memory)? You waive (give up) on many possible appellate issues if you do not object or raise the issue at the time of the trial.
