Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
Larceny under 250.00
My 17 year old daughter is charged with larceny under 250.00 with no priors. The only witness is the best friend of the person she is accused of stealing from, who is now stating in school that she doesnt know if it was her or not. this took place at a party where drinking was involved among minors. The police never interviewed any of her friends that were with her. Only for the defendant. We were appointed an attorney on Wed, had an appointment thursday for prelim on tuesday and he never showed up.
Do you recommend a plea bargin even though She is innocent or what is the worst that can happen. she dollar amount was 247.00.

Re: Larceny under 250.00
I would never entrust my daughter to a court appointed lawyer. As a parent, I'd hire the best attorney I could afford. I get far too many complaints about court appointed lawyers not getting the best results.
As a lawyer and a parent, I understand the problems associated with having a criminal conviction on a person's record.
My best advice is to hire an experienced and tough lawyer to fight for your daughter.
