Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
What legal action can I take for somebody cashing a check that was written to me
I had a wallet along with a check from my brother stolen from my automobile. The check was cashed with the person who stole it signing my signature and his/her signature on the back. In the wallet was my credit card, debit card, a membership card to a local Lodge and various business cards. I am not concerned with the wallet or the check as much as I would like to deal with the person who did it. This sort of thing, I have recently found out, has been happening in my neighborhood for the past year or so. I would just like the person(s) delt with severly as to detour them from this sort of act in the future. I would love any advice you could give as to the leagal action I can take.

Report it to the police. The crime is called uttering and publishing, a felony. You could also sue them, but if it gets charged criminally, a judge will order restitution as part of the sentence, so it is usually easier to just prosecute criminally.
