Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

I live in Redford MI. I met a friend that i work with at a park in Livonia, (an area which i am unfamiliar with), just to talk about work and hang out. We met at 8:00 p.m. We lost track of time, and it seemed to be getting late and when we walked to our cars to leave, a livonia officer pulled in and flashed his lights, and got out of his car. He thento accuse us of being up to no good, he patted down my male friend, and took our keys to search both of our cars. He then proceeded to ask us if we knew a lot of drug deals go on in the park and we he told him that we did not know that, and that we just met up there to talk. Then he asked us if we knew that the park closed and at what time. The friend i was with had apparently known, but being as this was my first visit, i had know idea it even close. The cop ended up writing us a misdemeanor for tresspassing on private property. Should i fight teh ticket or agree to plead guilty with probation which will come off of my record in 6 months? I want to plead not guilty because i would hope that the judge would plead in my favor because I did not know the area, or that the park closed, and i wasn't doing anything wrong, plus I have a perfectly clean record. What do you think?

I am very familiar with the Livonia court and everyone there. Your lack of knowledge is not a defense, but without a record, I am confident you could keep it off your permanent record. If you would like to discuss the matter, visit me at www.kliszlaw.com. Tim Klisz, Livonia, Michigan

You would be foolish not to fight it. You don't want a misdemeanor conviction to stay on your record for the rest of your life! Contact Daniel Hajji. 248.865.4700
