Re: maximum sentence for posssession of a firearm

Your questions doesn't explain the circumstances well enough to answer. There are many "weapons possession" charges on the books:

Felony Firearm (possession of a firearm in the commission of another felony) - maximum 2 Years consecutively with and preceding any term of imprisonment imposed for the felony or attempted felony conviction

Felon In Possession of a Firearm - maximum 5 yrs and/or $5,000 fine

Carrying a Dangerous Weapon With Unlawful Intent - 5 Years or $2,500.00

Carrying a Concealed Weapon - 5 Years or $2,500.00

Possession of a Short-Barrelled Shotgun - 5 Years or $2,500.00
