M.D.O.P. is Malicious Destruction of Property -- or $200 is over $200. This is a felony. You may contact me at (586) 402-0242 so that I may discuss what this means.

Re: Don't know the meaning and consequences

The first attorney's answer is partially wrong.

It is true that "MDOP" means Malicious Destruction of Personal Property.

But, I do not think that your case is a felony level MDOP. I think it is a misdemeanor.

There are 4 levels of MDOP:

(1) Under $200 damage is a misdemeanor carrying up to 93 days in jail &/or $500 fine or 3 times the value of the property loss (whichever is more)

(2) $200 or more but less than $1,000 damage is a misdemeanor carrying up to 1 year and/or $1,000 fine or 3 times the value of the property loss (whichever is more)

(3) $1,000 or more but less than $20,000 damage is a felony carrying up to 5 years and/or $10,000 fine or 3 times the value of the property loss (whichever is more)

(4) $20,000 or more damage is a felony carrying up to 10 years and/or $15,000 fine or 3 times the value of the property loss (whichever is more)

So, I seriously doubt that "RS-M.D.O.P. or = $200" is a felony.

I don't know that the "RS-" means.

Good luck.

Re: Don't know the meaning and consequences

MDOP = malicious destruction of property. This essentially mean that your boyfriend damaged some property that didn't belong to him. Typically, MDOP is a charge that prosecutors issue when there is damage to a vehicle, mailbox, etc. It sounds like this charge is less than $200. That is a misdemeanor with possible jail time. Please have your boyfriend call me so I can discuss the matter further with him. Office (248) 737-7000 or 24 hour voicemail (800) LAW-6685.
