what are the requirements to get on and expungent/ deferment program to remove this from my record

If you or your lawyer made the correct decisions in court and you stayed out of further trouble for a year, the MIP never got into your record and there's no need to seek expungment.

It depends on whether the case is over, or whether it is still pending. If it is over, you need to move to set aside the conviction after 5 years, assuming you have no other criminal convictions.
