Yes, minor in possession of alcohol (MIP) convictions or formal juvenile delinquency adjudications are abstracted to the Secretary of State and are entered on the defendant's driver's record.

1st offense: entered on driver's record, but 0 points and no license sanction.

2nd offense w/in 7 year period: 0 points; 90 day impact on driving privileges (30 day "hard suspension" followed by 60 day restricted license).

3rd offense w/in 10 years: 0 points; 1 year impact on driving privileges (60 day hard suspension, followed by 305 day restricted license).

A "hard suspension" is a period when you cannot drive, period. No exceptions (other than life-or-death emergencies). No restricted license privileges, etc.

There are no "hardship appeals" to the SOS Driver's License Appeal Division -- such as, "I really, really need my license so I can drive to school or work, or because because because because because ..."
