Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
MIP in Michigan w/other charges
I got an MIP for not blowing as well as a peeing in public charge walking home in Kalamazoo. I have a prior charge for theft, which i have completed probation for and it got expunged from my record. I've heard that peeing in public will put me on a sex offenders list. Is this true, and more importantly, if i get the MIP as well as the public nudity, the theft charge goes back on my record right? I have short term dreams (3yrs) of being able to teach in public highschools, should I be looking at other options due to these charges?

You might end up on the sex offender registry for 25 years if you're not careful. Hire an experienced attorney right away to fight for you.

Don't panic. Public urination is not a sex offense no matter what some ill informed lawyer may try to scare into you. By the way, it takes two convictions of indecent exposure before you have to register.
You can get a deferral or even beat your MIP given your circumstances. Either way it won't be on your record.
Your prior theft never got into your record because you pled under HYTA - right?
In any event, the theft offense will not come back on your record since you completed probation.
Play it safe . If you can't afford a lawyer, get a court appointed attorney.
