Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

Mip

If I received my first MIP and I go to court, etc. but then go back home to NY for the summer, what happens if I get caught drinking in NY? Is that considered to be a violation of Michigan MIP probation?

Re: Mip

Most likely, it would violate your probation terms. Most probations include something like "Do not violate any laws of this state, a local municipality, or another state", so that would put you at risk of a Probation Violation if you got a MIP in another state.

To avoid all the hassle, why not just NOT drink alcohol until you are 21??? If you cannot "NOT drink" until then, you probably have an alcohol addiction and need court intervention.

Yes! Read your probation order. Does it say you can't drink only in Michigan, but you can get drunk back home?......No, it doesn't!
