Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

Misdemeanor - need attorney in court?

Good Morning. In July I bought a second car in Highland MI. I live in St. Clair Shores. I stopped at the Highland Secy of State to buy plates for the new car. I specifically got a new plate for the new car because I did not know what I was going to do with old car. Unfortunately - the clerk transferred time left on old plate to new plate and I have been driving an unregistered car (unknowingly) since. Just got ticket, which notified of this issue. Went to local SCS Secy of State and got new plate for old car. BUT - still have to go to court for misdemeanor - would it be worth it to take an attorney with, what are the odds of getting it reduced so that I do not have a misdemeanor charge. If there is no way - then I guess I can just go by myself and face the music alone... Thanks for your time.
