Convictions "stay on your record" forever, unless you file a motion to set aside your conviction (commonly called expungment). Search the LawGuru Q&A database for Michigan criminal law for those terms. We've answered dozens of them.

Bottom line: if you have MORE THAN ONE conviction (misdemeanor or felony), you cannot set aside ANY conviction. Plus, you have to wait more than 5 years after you've been done with the criminal case (sentence, probation/parole, jail/prison).

Law enforcement (police, prosecutor) and court criminal history searches will see your convictions forever. But "public" searches of criminal histories (e.g., employers) go back 10 years, to my knowledge.
