Strictly speaking, your question does not fall into the "Criminal Law" section of LawGuru because the laws that control your Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity status and Authorized Leave Status come from the mental health / public health laws, not the criminal laws or penal code.

I recommend that you re-post your question in another section (or several sections). There is a Health Care Law section at LawGuru.com (make sure you specify the right State, too, plus the section(s) of law you want the question sent to. The attorneys register here under specialties. I've been on the other side of your situation, as a prosecutor, and the attorneys who handle the NGRI ripple effect for years after the criminal case has ended tend not to be the same criminal defense attorneys who originally represented the person. They tend to be attorneys who have a specialty in the mental health code and its own procedures and quirks.

You're on ALS from the forensic center, which is a positive development. But the NGRI Board, your community mental health team, and the probate court judges who review your case regularly really control your long term status. Even if you feel that you are "ready" to leave the group home and return to your family, because of your history, there are cautionary checks and balances that will never have the process move as fast as you want.
